By gathering the input and experience of our tenants, Camponi Housing Corp. has developed a plan that will become a vibrant and sustainable project that will lift not only the residents in these homes, but also the community around it. Inclusion saskatchewan

Sixty years ago, Inclusion SK founder Dr. John Dolan put an ad in the StarPhoenix to survey the number of children who were unable to attend school because they had an intellectual disability. The response to his ad inspired him, and many others invested in the disability cause, to start an Association that would give a voice to individuals with intellectual disabilities in Saskatchewan.

Over the following decades, the Association grew in both size and reputation. Its scope widened to cover a gamut of initiatives ranging from crisis support and public education, to systemic work with the Saskatchewan Government and retreats/workshops for mothers, parents, and siblings of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Today, Inclusion Saskatchewan directly supports more than 2,900 individuals and families throughout the province, and impacts thousands more through its work on the Saskatchewan Assured Income for Disabilities program and Self-Directed Funding. It works on a wide array of initiatives, projects, and priorities that include: advocacy, employment support, education and transition support, public education, youth programming, self-advocacy and social activities, family network and workshops, and the Valley View Centre transition.

Metis Nation of Saskatchewan

Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN-S) represents the province’s Métis citizens. The Métis Nation Legislative Assembly is the governing authority of the Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN-S) and has the authority to enact legislation, regulation, rules and resolutions governing the affairs and conduct of the Métis in Saskatchewan.

MN–S is proud to offer the First-Time Home Buyers’ Program to eligible Métis citizens in the province. This program offers financial assistance to citizens purchasing their first home.

The MN-S Emergency Repair Program (MN–S ERP), a component of the MN–S Housing Strategy, was reintroduced in October 2022. The ERP provides a one-time, indirect grant to registered Métis citizens who currently own their homes and earn less that $100,000.00 a year.

Applications go through a selection process that involves a home inspection report that prioritizes needs, not cosmetic fixes. The application process helps MN–S assess housing conditions and adjust its Housing Strategy to address gaps identified in certain communities.

OUT Saskatoon

OUTSaskatoon’s guiding principles are the lens through which we view all our work, the teachings we use to shape our belief systems as an organization, and the foundation of why and how we do our work. We believe that in order to achieve the world we want for our communities that we must rely on harm reduction, equity, cultural teachings, and community.

OUTSaskatoon opened Pride Home in January 2017 in order to provide a place for 2SLGBTQ youth to live open and free lives. Pride Home is a place where gender and sexually diverse youth are celebrated and supported and where they have the support and services that they need to thrive.

Two Spirit, transgender, and queer youth are at a greater risk of homelessness compared to their cisgender, heterosexual peers. A recent street-based needs assessment in Toronto identified that 24% of youth respondents identified as 2SLGBTQ, and local surveys showed that 30% of youth in OUTSaskatoon's youth program had been homeless or without secure housing at some point in their lives.

OUTSaskatoon started the year long project titled: A Place to Belong: Building Capacity for 2SLGBTQ Housing. This project took inspiration from the success of Pride Home in bettering the lives the youth who lived there. Using Pride Home as the model and needs assessments from local housing organizations and other 2SLGBTQ organizations across Canada, project staff created a 2SLGBTQ housing blueprint.

QUINT Development corporation

Quint’s Affordable Rental Housing program was developed as part of a larger Community Economic Development (CED) strategy to revitalize Saskatoon’s core neighbourhoods. Stable, safe and affordable housing is necessary for the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

This program integrates social, economic, and environmental objectives into each housing project. To maximize community benefit, Quint links housing projects with other complementary initiatives in the community.

We work to ensure that our rental housing is family-friendly and fosters a sense of community. To achieve this, Quint supports the development of tenants’ associations, tenant educational workshops, collective kitchens, tenant potlucks/BBQs, community gardening, and common green space.

Quint promotes stable housing through the implementation of our Eviction Prevention Program. Through the Eviction Prevention Program, families gain the tools and knowledge available to achieve housing stability and progress towards their housing goals.

Our Eviction Prevention Work is financially supported by: Affinity Credit Union, and Communtiy First. Quint also continues to pursue and develop new ideas to expand the amount of affordable housing that we can provide.
