The Homeowner Repair Program provides financial assistance to help low-income homeowners make major repairs to their homes to meet minimum health and safety standards. Eligible homeowners may receive up to $23,000.
Homeowners are eligible if:
- they own and occupy the home as their primary residence;
- their household income and asset levels are at or below the established limits as determined by Saskatchewan Housing Corporation;
- the repairs address health and safety issues;
- the repairs will extend the useful life of property by 15 years; and
- the property is substandard or deficient and requires major repairs to at least one of the following areas: structural, electrical, plumbing, heating system, or fire safety. Important:
- Repairs completed before receiving written approval from Saskatchewan Housing Corporation do not qualify for assistance.
- The homeowner is responsible for all costs greater than the approved amount.
- Eligibility may be affected if the title to the property has liens or judgments.
- Once approval is granted, work must be complete within six months.
